Born in Texas and raised in Mexico City, sisters Ana & Lydia Castro spent many hours in the kitchen of their grandmother as little girls. Fast forward a few (or more) years, and they both ended up in New Orleans. They fell in love with the City - the people, the food, the culture - and decided to call it home. Acamaya is their first restaurant project, where they aim to meld the best of Mexico City, Gulf of Mexico seafood, and New Orleans.
Acamaya has been featured on the 2024 New York Times Restaurant List; deemed one of the Best New Restaurants in America by both Esquire and Bon Appetit in 2025; and has received a 2025 Bib Gourmand distinction from the Michelin Guide for the American South.
